A Ugandan Military court hands down 5 soldiers sentences ranging from death sentences to long term prison in Somalia’s capital

2 Ugandan soldiers have been sentenced to death and three others were handed down 39 years in prison each by a Ugandan court Marshall in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, in their role in killing 7 civilians in Somalia’s lower Shabelle region.

The incident which took place in August in Goobweyn village in Lower Shabelle region where the AU soldiers deliberately killed the civilians.

AMISOM released statement after the killing of the 7 Somali civilians, confirming the killing of the civilians and promising to punish those involved in the gruesome murder.

Relatives of those killed by AMISOM forces in Golweyn, Lower Shabelle region, have issued a statement today, welcoming the sentencing of the five soldiers and officers who were convicted of deliberately killing civilians.

The relatives, who held a press conference in Mogadishu this afternoon, said they had regularly attended the trial of the AMISOM soldiers at Halane camp, and said they were satisfied with the process.
